The Norman Lykes House, also known as the Circle Sun House, was one of just 14 circular homes designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

“Aimee and Norman Lykes commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design their house in Phoenix in 1959. It was the last structure built for an original client from Wright’s designs,” Barbara Gordon, the executive director of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, told Insider.
The house was constructed in 1967 under the supervision of architect John Rattenbury, who had worked with Wright on its design, Gordon said.
“It is reportedly one of the last designs Wright worked on before his death in 1959,” she added.
The house was designed to blend in to the natural environment that surrounds it, and includes vast views of downtown Phoenix, similar to Wright’s own home and studio, Taliesin West, located in Scottsdale.

The main entryway to the house features the ‘compress and release’ design concept — where tight entry spaces opened up to a larger, open room — that Frank Lloyd Wright was known for.
